Whom should I contact if I’m considering a visit from Voices Lifted?
For general questions or for more information, contact director Kellie Walker at kelliesings[at]yahoo.com or at 480-899-4249. If you are ready to request a visit, fill out this form, which can be submitted in person or via email.
What kind of songs do you sing?
We started with songs from our church’s hymnals and have since incorporated folk songs, inspirational songs, chants, and other popular songs that older people might know.
Do you charge anything for your performances?
No, our services are performed entirely on a volunteer basis.
How many songs do you typically sing? Do you perform for a set time?
This really depends on the patient and/or the patient’s family. It also depends on the forum. We’ve sung to people for a whole hour during personal home visits. If we’re at a facility and stopping by several rooms, we’d likely only do three to four songs per room.
How many people do you usually send to sing?
If we’re singing in someone’s room, whether it’s in a hospital, hospice or nursing home, we try to limit the number of singers so as not to overwhelm the person we’re trying to comfort. Ideally, between one to four people would sing in that type of situation, though some patients may request a larger, lively group.
How far are you willing to travel?
We are open to traveling anywhere in the Valley (the Phoenix metropolitan area). We already visit: the Desert Haven Care Center in Phoenix, Leland Manor in Mesa, the Dobson Home in Chandler, the Lund Family Hospice Home in Gilbert and Friendship Village in Tempe.
